She currently teaches 5th grade math at Lynn Camp Elementary School and is a literacy specialist. ![]() Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program. Youth are involved in developing and conducting activities designed to help make their schools and communities healthy and drug-free as well as mentoring younger students. Unite Clubs help youth develop healthy attitudes and behaviors. While at Flat Lick Elementary, she coached the Odyssey of the Mind, Academic Team, and was the faculty sponsor for the 4-6 grade Unite Club. She became a math teacher in 2010 at Flat Lick Elementary School for the Knox County School System in Barbourville, Ky. She already held business administration certification. I wanted to help students in those grade levels so they would not struggle in math as grown-ups,” said Childers.Ĭhilders earned certification in Elementary Education at EKU in 2010 with a major in Mathematics.
